Taos MEN key to state forum

Taos Men Engaged in Nonviolence got to participate last week (Aug. 5) in a groundbreaking forum on the importance of fatherhood at the University of New Mexico- Valencia, executive director Crispin Clarke reported.

“The goal behind it is how to get fathers more engaged in families,” Clarke said Friday (Aug. 13).

The forum, hosted by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, was the latest step in President Barack Obama’s initiative to combat father absence in the U.S. Taos MEN — a nonprofit organization that provides mentors to fatherless children and helps men become better fathers and husbands through nonviolence — was one of the key voices in the forum designed to combat fatherlessness by creating new policies in areas like criminal justice, education, health and human services, workforce development and mental health.
